Activated Carbon

Activated carbon is a porous solid material obtained through the burning of carbon-containing materials such as coal, wood, rice husks, coconut fibers, and coconut shells.

Activated carbon derived from coconut shell charcoal is particularly valued for its exceptional adsorption capacity due to its tiny, numerous pores that create a large internal surface area.

The coconut shells used in producing activated carbon must be old, hard, and low in moisture water content. The transformation of coconut shells into activated carbon involves heating coconut shells through processes of carbonization and activation.

Activated carbon is widely utilized in major industries for purification processes, color removal, odor elimination, dechlorination, toxin removal, reducing various salts, and can even be used as a catalyst.
