Coco Fiber

About 35% of the total weight of a coconut consists of coconut fiber. This part is commonly used as raw material for making brooms, mats, ropes, and various household tools.

On industrial scale, coconut fiber are used in manufacturing carpets, vehicle upholstery, mattresses, pillows, hardboards, rubber fibers, and more.

The processing of coconut husks into fibers involves softening or crushing (crusher), and defibrillation (de-fibring). Based on this process, white fiber or long, fine white fiber can be obtained, made from coconut husks that are not yet old enough. These fibers can be spun into yarn and woven into carpets, cleaning cloths, ropes, and nets.

From mature coconut, long brown fibers (bristle fibers) and short fibers (mattress fibers) can be obtained. The long fibers are used to make brooms and brushes, while the short fibers are used for making mats. They can also be combined with latex to create sheets (cocosheets) for mattress covers, car seats, or sound insulation.
